Our Staff

 Melissa Black

 President, Owner

Melissa has 27 years of experience in engineering, high-end real estate development, and business management. Her career started as the lead construction engineer at Pacific Gas and Electric Nuclear plant in San Luis Obisbo, CA. Her later career has been influential in Tucson and has been marked by the development and sales of high-end, custom home communities. She is co-owner and President of Solar Gain Inc. and also a Co-founder and the President of the new Southern Arizona Green Chamber of Commerce (SAGCC). Melissa holds a BSME from California Polytechnic in San Luis Obispo, CA.

 

Christopher J. Martin

Vice-President, Electrical Contractor 

As owner of CJM Electric, Chris contributes over 30 years of experience in commercial and residential electrical contracting. In addition, Chris successfully built and sold one of the nation’s largest commercial special events companies. Currently based in Nogales, AZ, Chris holds a majority of interest in Wilson Produce LLC, one of the nation’s largest produce distributorships.

 

Roman Black

CFO, Director of Operations

Roman heads up finances and sales at Solar Gain. In addition, he is a founding board member of the Southern Arizona Green Chamber of Commerce (SAGCC). Roman has experience in sustainable building practices, having worked in Costa Rica as Project Manager for custom homes that integrate LED lighting, rain harvesting, black water recycling with solar and wind energy. He holds a degree in Finance from the University of Arizona.

 

Felix Gafner

Chief Engineer

Born and raised in Switzerland, Felix has lived and worked in Mexico, Switzerland, and the US. His prior work experience with 3S Swiss Solar Systems, as well as consulting in the construction of the SunTech manufacturing facility in Goodyear, AZ, has allowed him inside knowledge to many solar module manufacturers and the photovoltaic industry as a whole. Felix holds an MEE from Ingeniuerschule Biel/Bienne in Switzerland and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. His experience in project management, reinforced by degrees in Engineering and business, assure seamless integration between Solar Gain’s subcontractors.

 

Michael Eisele

Chief Installer

With more than 10 years experience installing custom solar electric and solar hot water systems in Tucson, AZ, and certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), Mike leads Solar Gain’s installation team in the field.

 

James Martin

Business Development, Technical Sales

James joins the Solar Gain team after completing service with the US Peace Corps in the Federated States of Micronesia, where he was a development facilitator in the fields of Education and Community Development. He has working experience with both US and foreign government officials, and is actively developing Solar Gain’s presence as an EPC in Latin America. Having studied in Cuba, Denmark and the US, James holds dual BA degrees in Philosophy and Latin American Studies from the University of Arizona.

 

Max Martin

Installation Specialist

Max joins the Solar Gain team after many years in the Special Events industry, where he installed large commercial temporary structures, electrical distributions, lighting and HVAC in various locations throughout the US. In addition, Max has experience in residential electrical design, layout and installation.
